Walk a Mile in My Shoes Going Virtual This Year

February 11, 2021

Barbara Laible Utica Observer-Dispatch USA TODAY NETWORK The Rescue Mission of Utica is hosting its 10th annual Walk a Mile in My Shoes event to raise awareness of homelessness and hunger. Like many other nonprofit organizations, The Rescue Mission of Utica has had to make changes for this annual event, but the good news is that this year, it will be happening virtually for the entire month of February. It’s easy to participate – just choose a date in February and your place to walk. Community members are encouraged to walk on a treadmill, in the park, in their neighborhoods, even in their houses as a fun and safe way to help transform lives of those in need. Participants are encouraged to take photos or videos while you walk and later post them on social media and tag ‘Rescue Mission of Utica.’ The registration fee is $25 for individual walkers; and $15 per person for teams (groups of 10 or more). Registration also includes a goodie bag. To register, visit uticamission.org or download, print, complete, and mail or bring in the registration/pledge form to: Rescue Mission of Utica, attn: Walk a Mile, 293 Genesee St., Utica NY 13501. Prizes will be a warded in March to the team with the largest number of participants and with the most funds raised.

Sponsorship opportunities are available.
