RESCUE MISSION OF UTICA COLLECTING WINTER COATS AS WEATHER TURNS COLDER IN CNY   The Rescue Mission of Utica is collecting winter coats to distribute to families in need this season by holding donation drives.

UTICA, N.Y. – The Rescue Mission of Utica is collecting winter coats to distribute to families in need this season by holding donation drives.

The Rescue Mission held a collection event on Tuesday, and will hold another Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon at 1013 West St.

Development Director at the Rescue Mission, Susan Woods, says they are accepting gently used coats and jackets in all sizes.

“This morning, I went into my closet and I chose a jacket to wear. There are many people who do not have that option, so we want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to be warm and protected from the elements, and we know Central New York can turn on a dime,” she said.

The coats will be distributed at a later date.
