The Rescue Mission of Utica’s 5th Annual “Walk a Mile in My Shoes” was a fantastic turnout, with nearly 300 walkers, and regardless of the frigid weather and cold temperature, all of our hearts were filled with warmth to see how many people came together and walked to raise funds for the Rescue Mission of Utica! We’re so grateful to those who came out to participate in this event that not only brings funding for our vital programs and attends to our mission, but also puts YOU a mile in the shoes of those we serve every day. The walk took place at Hanna Park, City Hall. It was a one mile walk, starting from Hanna Park, to the Rescue Mission’s Parker House (the half-mile point). After the half-way point, walkers turned and walked back to the Westminster Church where everyone warmed up with delicious, homemade soups, beverages and snacks (courtesy & made by the Rescue Mission of Utica’s very own Chef & staff), where everyone mingled, taking pictures, enjoying the food & fun.
The support from a caring community will continue to equip the Rescue Mission in its outreach to men, women, children, and families with the Good News while meeting physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and practical help. We do this through our: Emergency Shelter; Addictions Crisis Center; Residential Aftercare Program; Enriched Living Center; Morris Learning Center; Spiritual Life Program; Representative Payee Program and Community Outreach.
