UTICA- As part of a statewide festival, Utica participated in Hope Day for the very first time.
The Mohawk Valley Church, along with other neighboring churches sponsored the free community festival at Quinn Park.
The event is designed to bring hope to the inner city. Hundreds of locals participated in games, and enjoyed some music.
There was face painting for the kids, a chance for haircuts, and information regarding community resources.
“The Rescue Mission is here, the United Way, there’s a lot of community services that are just here to make themselves available to the community,” said Pastor Mike Melnick.
Everyone who went to Hope Day was given free bags of groceries as they left.
