MARCY- The Rescue Mission of Utica celebrated their 130 year anniversary on Friday night with a praise and worship concert.
The concert took place at the Mohawk Valley Church in Marcy. Two singers performed.
The Executive Director for the Rescue Mission says they decided to have a praise and worship concert because the organization started with a group of churches who wanted to do something about homelessness.
She says in the 130 years, the organization has come a long way.
“We’ve grown from a small soup kitchen type ministry to having our addiction stabilization center, to housing for those with mental illness, to our mens shelter which is full, our West Street Apartment Complex,” said Wendy Goetz.
Their next fundraising event is Walk a Mile in my Shoes, on February 1.
