UTICA — Rescue Mission of Utica will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the first small house constructed through its Skills for Success Program. The event with the presentation of the keys to the new home owner will occur Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m. Following Oneida County and NYS COVID-19 guidelines, the event will be held for attendees via ZOOM, and share with the public through social media accounts of Rescue Mission of Utica.
Rescue Mission is gifting the home to a first-time homeowner who completed their application process which included attending classes with HomeOwnershipCenter. Located at 1008 Noyes St., Utica, the home was built under skilled supervision by students who participated in the Skills for Success Job Training Program with Rescue Mission and the MVCC Youth Build Program.
The project was funded through Rescue Mission of Utica and grants from Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties, City of Utica, and in collaboration with MVCC YouthBuild and HomeOwnershipCenter.
