UTICA- The Rescue Mission of Utica served hundreds of meals to people in need on Christmas day!
Volunteers prepare for this day all year round. They started the day with a Christmas service and served dinner after that, all day long. People in need indulged in turkey, stuffing, vegetables, and dessert. Volunteers also packed togo containers for those who couldn’t make it out.
Organizers for the dinner said they want everyone to feel happy on Christmas. “Here, they have an opportunity to not only hear a message, but they also have the opportunity in community around the table to have a great christmas dinner,” said Executive Director for the Rescue Mission, Jim Haid. “I remember hearing from individuals who have been here in the past, say I come and sit at a table with strangers, but we leave as friends and that’s what christmas is all about,” he added.
