Utica Rescue Mission Hosts Super Bowl Party for Residents 2-3-19

February 3, 2019

For residents of the Rescue Mission of Utica though, alcohol is not an option. That doesn’t stop them from watching the big game and enjoying a super-sized feast.

UTICA, NY – For many people Super Bowl Sunday means not only rooting for your favorite team,  it also means partying in a big way.

That usually involves plenty of food and alcohol.

For residents of the Rescue Mission of Utica though, alcohol is not an option.

That doesn’t stop them from watching the big game and enjoying a super-sized feast.

“We’re looking to have a night where individuals come together and enjoy the game clean and sober”, says Ernie Talerico, Utica Rescue Mission’s Director of Operations.

“They’re able to have an enjoyable meal and watch the game, and have a great time watching football, but being clean and sober doing it.”

Helping out with the festivities Sunday was Louie Zina of the Grapevine Restaurant in New Hartford.

He has been donating his time and services to the rescue mission’s Super Bowl party for the past 10 years.
